IIW Minnesota announced today that Christian Hendrie has joined the team as an architect. Hendrie brings extensive experience in senior health care and a unique specialization in historic preservation to the St. Cloud-based firm.
Hendrie holds a Master in Architecture with a Certificate in Historic Preservation and a Bachelor’s in Architectural Studies from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning.
He has more than 15 years of experience working on facilities for K-12, higher education, municipal, housing, hospitality and health care. His health care experience alone spans more than 50 projects with focuses on skilled care, memory care and assisted living for public and private sector clients.
“Christian has a keen ability to listen to client’s needs and create spaces that reflect their goals today and well into the future,” said David Leapaldt, senior architect and head of IIW Minnesota. “He has a strong appreciation for buildings – both old and new – and shapes them into assets for the client and the community.”
With a passion for historic preservation, Hendrie has developed a substantial background in the restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive re-use of existing buildings. He meets the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s standards as a Historic Architect having managed or provided support on numerous preservation projects, tax credit projects and cultural resource investigations.
Hendire has been an expert source for dozens of technical reports, including cultural resource assessments, National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nominations, cultural resource management plans (CRMPs), and Historic American Building Survey and Historic American Engineering Records (HABS/HAER) documentation.
