Sauk Rapids-Rice High School

The value of this new high school started with engaging the community through a visioning process.

Sauk Rapids-Rice High School

The Sauk Rapids-Rice School District and the City of Sauk Rapids needed to develop a master plan for the 260 acres that they collectively owned. They looked to David Leapaldt to help facilitate the process and provide a plan that would include the desired activities and deliver the community the best value.

Residents felt engaged and openly shared that the project was better planned and more fully conceived than any other previous effort.

The project included a variety of energy savings and sustainable strategies. The operating cost efficiency cost over code was $5.3 million and provided a payback in less than one year.

The high school spans 360,000 square feet, but offers a smaller school feel through the design of a variety of learning environments.
