David A. Leapaldt, AIA, CID, LEED AP
David Leapaldt leads IIW-Minnesota with over three decades of industry experience. His work can be seen in a variety of community landmarks and signature facilities throughout the Upper Midwest. Much of his work has been published in Architecture Minnesota and American School & University and recognized through a variety of awards.
David has become known for his keen ability to help organizations create Long Range Facilities Plans and Master Plans. Part of his planning work has included conducting space utilization studies to both maximize the use of space and to align the use of space to meet strategic planning objectives. David’s leadership and ability to design processes and lead facilitation processes that result in consensus has been credited by several clients as being instrumental to achieving their goals.
Leader in Sustainability
David has been a leader in sustainability. His leadership and knowledge as a LEED Accredited Professional resulted in the first school in Central Minnesota, and one of the first in the state to receive LEED certification. The Kennedy School in St. Joseph received GOLD LEED certification from the US Green Building Council in 2008. David is a co-founder of the St. Cloud Area Sustainability Committee focusing on increasing sustainability in the St. Cloud area. David earned a bachelor of science in architecture from North Dakota State University is a registered architect in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota. He has been a certified interior designer since 1994.
